This a bug?

Okay so I not too long ago modified my gamer tag to YSuperM877 and now all my progress on Terraria is gone, idk if this can be a bug however come on I don't prefer it when my information is totally erased from existence, I want a motive why.

(my gamer tag was x8v6 beforehand I modified it, I used to be in an excellent temper to play terraria however that is the second time this occurred, guess sick have to begin from scratch once more)
