Xbox 1 controller stopped working

My Xbox one popped up with a low battery alert a couple of week in the past. After my controller died, I waited a number of days earlier than going to the shop and getting extra batteries. Now with new batteries it simply flashes twice earlier than turning off. I’m comparatively new to Xbox and I'm undecided if that is a straightforward repair or not. Any options?
