Is my new Elite Collection 2 Controller "used" or is that this simply unhealthy QC?

I purchased this new on-line from Verizon's Black Friday deal and picked it up in my native Verizon retailer earlier at the moment. It appeared sealed to me however after opening it I observed these marks/gunk on 3 out of the 4 further thumbsticks and a few minor however noticeable rub/marks on the left grip. Did I in some way get a "used" controller or is that this simply poor QC on Microsoft's mark and to be anticipated?

Debating whether or not I ought to attempt to trade it for one more one or simply roll with it.
